The LOBSTER-ISS X-ray All-Sky Monitor G.W. Fraser and the LOBSTER-ISS team Space Research Centre, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Leicester, Leicester LE1 7RH, UK. LOBSTER-ISS is an imaging all-sky monitor, based on microchannel plate optics, which was proposed to ESA in January 2000 as an attached payload for the International Space Station and then selected for an accommodation study in May 2000. This paper describes the current programatic status of LOBSTER-ISS, the potential science return of the mission in the field of AGN, together with the technical status of the instrument design, especially the MCP optics and microwell focal plane detectors
